The Birth of Rock and Roll

A performer carries in a heavy black leather bag and puts it on the floor. The performer puts on a motorcycle helmet and sits down on a chair with his back to the audience. In the middle of the performance space stands a table with several glasses filled with water. An assitant tells the story about the original recording of "It's All Right Mama" by Elvis and how this song became the first Rock'n'Roll song ever - thus the Birth of Rock'n'Roll.

After this introduction the performer stands up from his chair goes to the wall, stands there in a cross position stretching the body into the cross shape standing on his toes, then moving into a ski jumpers position still on his toes. After this the performer stands on his feet, lifts his hand to touch the wall and bangs the head several times against the wall. The performer then walks to the table pours water from one glass into another, drinks some water. He then stands infront of the table and does a typical Elvis move like the hip shake for example.

Then he walks back to the wall and starts the cycle of performative actions again. After a couple of times repeating these actions, doing a different "Elvis move" every time, the performer knocks over the glasses on the table with his head. Water is spilled over the table, some glasses fall down from the table. When all glasses are knocked over the performer kneels infront of the table and lifts it very little. The water from the table drips to the floor and makes a tiny sound work. When he finishes the performer lets the table down again and sits on the chair again. The song "'It's All Right Mama" comes from the black leather bag eight times in a row. After it is finished the performer stands up, takes the bag and leaves the space.
